10 mark and 15 mark question- 35% of paper
- Logo/typeface- Old spice- uses two different fonts. Old spice is cursive and looks like it is handwritten/personal suggesting elegance and craftsmanship. The capitalized claim makes it stand out
- Shot type- mid shot. Used so we can recognize the celebrity endorsement and that there is enough space for all the props.
- Layout/composition- product in bottom right. Mustafa occupies the left side and creates an L shape, which leads our eye to the product
- Colour Palette- reflects the natural colours of Caribbean. The blue sky and yellow reinforce the tropical theme, while the white font and red product contrast to stand out
- Whole image has been manipulated to create a hyper reality representation. Blows your mind of what can happen to you- girls in bikinis etc but it can also help you escape somewhere different to your ordinary life
- The address is self depreciating and mocking of other fragrance adverts suggesting wearers are less likely to conform to convention. They are humours, intelligent and exotic.
- Body language of Mustafa is challenging towards men, and alluring to woman. There is an inter textual reference to the TV advert "smell like a man" and immediately attracts women. However, his look is slightly caricatured and once again represents the self depreciating humour of the brand.
